Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Kamado Sumo (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you visit https://kamadosumo.com (the “Site”), interact with our content, leave comments, create an account, make a purchase, or otherwise engage with us.

By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Who We Are

Our website address is: https://kamadosumo.com

Kamado Sumo is operated by Kamado Sumo AB (org. no. 559072-0008), a Swedish company based in Stockholm. We design and sell premium ceramic Kamado grills, Sumo Hibachi table grills, smokeless fire pits, accessories, and related outdoor cooking products that combine Scandinavian innovation with Asian tradition.

Information we collect

We collect personal information in several ways:

  • Directly from you: When you leave comments, register an account, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, fill out a contact form, or upload media.
  • Automatically: Through cookies, server logs, and analytics tools (IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring URLs).
  • From third parties: Payment processors, shipping carriers, or service providers (with appropriate safeguards).
Comments and Reviews

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Additional cookies and tracking We also use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential functionality (shopping cart, login, security)
  • Analytics (to understand how visitors use the Site — e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Marketing and personalization (remarketing, where consent is obtained)

You can manage your preferences via our cookie consent banner (where displayed) or your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect site functionality.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Purchases, accounts and Customer data

When you place an order or create an account, we collect:

  • Name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses
  • Order details and transaction history
  • Payment information (processed securely by third-party providers such as Klarna, Stripe, or similar — we do not store full credit/debit card details on our servers)

We use this information to process and fulfill orders, provide customer support, handle warranties and returns, send order updates, and comply with legal obligations (accounting and tax records).

Newsletter and marketing communications

With your explicit consent, we may send you newsletters, product updates, BBQ tips, and promotional offers. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in each email or by contacting us.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

We share personal data only when necessary with:

  • Service providers and processors (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, shipping/logistics, analytics, spam protection such as Akismet)
  • Professional advisors and authorities when required by law or to protect our rights and the Site
  • Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice where required)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We retain order and transaction data for as long as necessary to fulfill our contract with you, provide after-sales support (including lifetime warranty claims on certain products), and meet legal requirements (typically up to 7 years for accounting and tax purposes in Sweden).

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

In addition, under the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Request data portability (in a structured, machine-readable format)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

To exercise these rights, please email info@kamadosumo.se. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding. For residents of Sweden/EU/EEA/UK, you may also contact the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten – IMY) at www.imy.se.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Some of our service providers (including Google, Automattic/Gravatar/Akismet, and certain payment or analytics providers) are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA). When we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or rely on adequacy decisions to protect your information.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alteration. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Our Site is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated via email (where we have your address) or a prominent notice on the Site.
